You got Bari!
Known as the gateway to Puglia, Bari is lovely white washed coastal town known for its orecchiette (meaning little ears) pasta and seafood.
While wandering the streets of the old town, you may just find women of the town making the pasta from scratch and setting it out to dry. Find a quaint Osteria with a sea view enjoy the Orecchiette con cime di rapa (orecchiette with broccoli rabe), the most popular pasta dish in Bari or you can enjoy seafood straight from the sea. At lunchtime, the fishermen return from the sea with their daily haul and tables are set up upon the lungomare (sea shore) for the most incredible raw seafood lunch. Make sure to visit Alberbello, home of the fascinating "trulli" houses and Polignano a Mare to visit their stunning cliff studded beach while in Puglia. Andiamo! |
